About Nerissa
I have a BSc in Chemistry and a postgraduate degree from Imperial College London, where I specialised in Catalysis. I’ve been tutoring for 7 years and particularly enjoy helping students make sense of the more difficult parts of A-Level Chemistry.
Alongside tutoring, I work in data analysis, so I’m used to breaking down complex information, spotting patterns and explaining things clearly and logically.
I’m patient, approachable and happy to explain a topic in different ways until it clicks. I also understand that A-Level Chemistry can feel like a big step up from GCSE, so I aim to make lessons feel structured, manageable and confidence-building.

I’m an experienced tutor with 7 years of tutoring experience and a postgraduate degree from Imperial College London, offering online A-Level Chemistry tuition across all major UK exam boards, including AQA, OCR and Edexcel.
I have a strong academic background in Chemistry, including a BSc in Chemistry and postgraduate study in Catalysis (Chemistry and Engineering), and I enjoy helping students turn difficult or abstract topics into something much more manageable.
Lessons are tailored to the individual student and can focus on:
- Understanding challenging topics and underlying concepts
- Physical, organic and inorganic chemistry
- Calculations and quantitative chemistry
- Exam technique and answering longer-mark questions
- Past paper practice
- Identifying and filling gaps in knowledge
- Revision planning and preparation for mocks or final exams
I particularly focus on helping students understand *why* something works rather than simply memorising information. This makes it much easier to apply knowledge to unfamiliar exam questions and build confidence across the course.
My teaching style is patient, clear and encouraging, and students are always welcome to ask questions or revisit topics as many times as needed.
All lessons are delivered remotely.
