About Bernie
I started playing piano 'by ear' at the age of 5. I later studied classical piano for some years with a Royal Academy professor, working my way through all the grades and winning a classical piano competition.
I became a fully professional musician in 1988. My career has since taken me around the world, playing piano and keyboards with artists such as Annie Lennox, Take That, Gary Barlow and, most recently, Jeff Lynne's ELO.
I have now 'hung up my touring boots' and devote myself to teaching piano.

I have many years experience teaching piano. I use the best elements of traditional approaches combined with my own methods to help students realise their greatest musical potential.
More than anything else, I aim to make each lesson a fun and uplifting experience. All important aspects of piano playing are given due attention, including note reading, playing-by-ear, chords, harmony, technique, scales, arpeggios, posture, improvisation, rhythmic awareness and more.
I mainly teach classical, jazz and pop. But other genres are possible. Please note I offer visiting lessons only, meaning I'll travel to you and give the lesson in your home.
