To begin with I would ask what you’re looking to achieve from my teaching, whether it’s particular techniques you’ve been struggling with or looking for teaching on how to master new pieces in your repertoire. With instrument teaching, the method which most students and teachers prefer is for a student to play as much of the piece (or section of a piece) they’re learning as possible and the teacher picks out areas of difficulty to focus on during the lesson as well as giving overall advice on the tone produced. We then go over the piece again to try to allow the focus areas to become fluent within the piece. Should a student find that a slightly different method would be more useful to them, I would be open to trying such a method.
I achieved Distinction in Grade 8 classical guitar in 2017, having been playing since the age of 7 in 2008. I am looking to begin teaching classical guitar for all abilities covering music reading, guitarist techniques and building up a repertoire of beautiful pieces.
