About Rhian
I am a qualified UK teacher with a PGCE in French and TEFL, and I have previously worked as Head of Modern Languages. I have many years of experience teaching French and Spanish in Schools, Colleges and Adult education.
Languages have always been a real passion of mine. I studied French and Linguistics at the University of Liverpool, where I gained a BA (Hons), and I have also studied Spanish to an advanced level. Having lived and worked in both France and Spain, I have had the opportunity to use both languages in everyday life and to develop a genuine understanding of the cultures as well as the languages themselves.
English is my native language, and I have also enjoyed helping people from other countries to develop their English.
For me, teaching languages is about much more than learning grammar and vocabulary. I love helping students become more confident, whether they want to chat with friends, prepare for a holiday, succeed in an exam, or simply enjoy learning a new language.
I am friendly, patient and encouraging, and I like to adapt my lessons to each individual student. Seeing someone become more confident and comfortable using a language is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me.

I identify your interests and requirements in the first lesson, which is free, and then I use and create resources to meet your needs.
Do you want to converse with Spanish friends or colleagues? I enjoy watching students grow in confidence in speaking skills and use conversations to build on the language. I also use authentic videos and recordings to enhance your listening skills.
Are you visiting Spain? I can help with the day-to-day structures you need to get to know people, find your way round, buy things and find accommodation.
I encourage discussions for social purposes and include vocabulary learning, linked to sentence building structures to build confidence in this area.
Do you need to pass a UK exam? I use resources that meet the needs of the exams and balance learning through games and exam-related resources.
