Mandarin
Pang is the Founder and Design Principal of an interior architecture studio based in London and Hong Kong, with over two decades of international practice. Alongside his studio work, his engagement with design has always run through writing, critique and education.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Chartered Society of Designers, and has spent years serving as an examiner for a public arts development body and as a jury member for several international design awards.
That work has meant developing a disciplined way of reading design - separating a genuinely resolved idea from one that simply looks resolved, and asking whether a spatial decision still holds up once the novelty of the image has worn off. He has written two books exploring design philosophy and spatial optimisation, and in 2025 his work was presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale. For over a decade, he also supported final-year students on a UK university's Interior Architecture and Design course through an annual award he established, presented each year at graduation.
Pal has a particular interest in supporting the next generation of designers- not only those refining a portfolio or a dissertation, but those beginning to think about a career of their own: how to develop a point of view that holds up under scrutiny, how to argue for a design decision, how a small practice actually finds its footing. These are the kinds of questions that rarely get covered on a design course.
