About Michael
Hi, I'm Michael. I'm an international touring guitarist and guitar instructor with more than 20 years of professional experience performing, teaching and creating music.
For more than 10 years I ran my own private guitar instruction business in the United States, helping students of all ages and abilities build confidence, develop solid technique and, most importantly, enjoy playing guitar. Every lesson is tailored to the individual because no two students learn in exactly the same way.
In 2013, I volunteered with Rock School Kabul in Kabul, Afghanistan, where I helped develop the guitar curriculum, organised workshops, and created performance opportunities including Saturday jam sessions and open mic nights. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career and reinforced my belief that great teaching builds confidence, community and a lifelong love of music.
Alongside teaching, I've toured internationally, produced records, composed for film and written award-winning music. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the very first time, returning after years away, or looking to develop your playing, songwriting or musicianship, I'll tailor every lesson to your goals in a relaxed, encouraging environment where you'll make steady, enjoyable progress.
Whether your ambition is to play around the campfire, perform on stage, write your own songs or simply become a more confident musician, I'd be delighted to help you get there.

Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time, getting back into playing, or looking to take your skills to the next level, my lessons are tailored to your goals and musical interests.
I'm an international touring guitarist, producer and award-winning songwriter with more than 20 years of professional experience performing, recording and writing music. I've worked with beginners, hobbyists, songwriters and developing musicians, and I believe the best way to learn is by playing music you genuinely enjoy.
Lessons are relaxed, practical and personalised. We'll build strong technique, rhythm, ear training, improvisation, songwriting and musical confidence while developing the skills that matter most to you. Whether your goal is to strum around the campfire, write your own songs or perform on stage, we'll create a plan that gets you there.
Lessons are available in person in Edinburgh or online, and students of all ages and experience levels are welcome.
