About Richard
The handpan is a relatively new instrument and has only been around for 25 years which is not long in comparison to many of the instruments we know today that have a history that spans hundreds. I grew up with a musical background, learning piano from 8 years old and dabbled in various instruments over the years including guitar and drums. Ever since I first heard Hang Massive play PanArt’s Hang and I’ve wanted a handpan ever since! Last August I finally decided to buy my first handpan and now I am on my 4th as I find the scales that I love the most. I currently own an E Amara 20 and an F2 Low Pygmy 11, both very mesmerising and beautiful scales that I play almost every day. I believe that anyone can learn handpan, even if you have no musical background at all and it doesn’t take long to enjoy the calm and meditative sound of this magical instrument. No matter your skill level, the handpan sings at every touch! You can bring your own handpan, or you are welcome to learn on one of the scales that I own. I do not play a D Kurd, which most tutorials follow, but you can translate tutorials to whatever scale you have with the right knowledge. I will help you to develop the fundamental theory and knowledge to become independent in your own learning, and teach you the basic skills needed to continue your journey in whatever direction you desire.

I do not offer free lessons, superprof will not allow me to untick this for some reason!
But I do offer free consultation to get to know you and understand your needs and direction with the handpan before our first lesson. (This would count as the free 30 minutes listed on this page).
