I studied Drama at the University of Reading and after graduating in 1991 I worked at the BBC Radio Drama Rep co, before starting teaching in 1995. I am passionate about the subject and actually started the Drama Dept at my second school in 1998 where I built up the dept from 4 pupils in a terrapin hut to persuading the school governors to build a Performing Arts Centre in 2005! There are now over 60 pupils studying drama at GCSE and A level. It is one of the most popular and successful departments in the school. As a former student who is now studying drama at the Central School of Speech and Drama quoted "Her rigorous and demanding standards raised my own expectations of myself. She was unfailingly supportive, caring, motivational, informative, interesting and above all inspirational. Her teaching transformed my love of drama into a passion".
Indeed the drama dept was at the forefront of the school being awarded "Artsmark" Silver in 2009. I have won 40 trophies for directing festival drama, including being one of six schools in the UK to be selected to perform a devised play for Tomorrow's World at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden in 2003.. Our AS level drama group won the semi-final of the All England Drama Festival at Leigh on Sea in 2009 and was subsequently selected to perform at the British All Winners' Final in Woking in July 2009, where we were awarded the Buxton trophy for the "Most Promising Performance by a youth group.". In 2013 our AS group won The Youth Award at the British All Winners final in Teignmouth.

I also offer a reduced rate if students want to book more than an hour at a time. Please speak to me to discuss different options. My charges for "online" tutoring are £20.00 to set and mark a GCSE or A level essay. This includes phone calls or emails from students to myself to give advice and a second re-mark. Jane has been a big part and major help to my acting career as one of my first teachers. She’s always encouraged me to keep trying and improving and that my talent was worth sharing. She is an amazing teacher and anyone who knows of her talents is a very lucky person.
I worked with Jane in a secondary school’s Drama Dept for 5 years and she is an excellent teacher and practitioner. Well organised, creative and passionate about her subject, Jane upholds very good relationships with her students and frequently helps them to gain excellent marks in public examinations and moderations. I would highly recommend Jane as a trustworthy tutor.
Jane is an absolute fantastic teacher who really encourages you to explore your skills and push yourself. She is calm, patient, and most importantly kind.
She is an excellent tutor with years of experience, skill, and knowledge which she readily shares, allowing students to get top marks in exams!
I couldn’t have done my A-level theatre studies without her.
I am a teacher who has known Jane for 30 years and have seen myself what a huge impact her passion for drama can have on students. She has fantastic experience of both teaching drama and acting, which has made a huge impact on the personal success of many students. Our eldest son loved practical drama but found the GCSE writing component difficult until Jane was able to break down the tasks and really engage him in the work. In a short time Jane turned a somewhat reluctant writer into an A grade student, which had a very positive impact on other subject areas, particularly English. I have no hesitation in strongly recommending Jane as a tutor who can make a big difference.
I was taught by Jane at school and know she is lovely, knowledgable, and clearly very passionate about Drama. Under her guidance, I was able to advance with a group through country-wide drama competitions. I learnt a lot of valuable lessons from Jane and would recommend her as a tutor to anyone!
Jane taught me for A Level drama at school and she was one of my favourite teachers! She is so understanding and thorough when explaining things. She teaches in such a calm but rememberable way that it is so easy to learn things and actually remember and understand them. I really struggled with my theory when it came to drama and I managed to achieve an A in A level- all thanks to Jane!
Jane has years of experience teaching students LAMDA and Trinity exams, as well as coaching students for drama school auditions. Jane is such a lovely person, who is encouraging and goes that extra mile to help.
Jane was my Drama teacher for 3 years and was absolutely incredible, extremely knowledgable and a really outstanding teacher. She helped me gain entrance to a programme on a theatre program and without a doubt I wouldn’t be who I am today without her.
Passionate about getting the very best results. Supportive, warm, fun with years of experience and proven results.
Mrs Harris taught me for three years and I gained confidence with performing and in my essay writing skills. In my GCSE I was able to achieve a higher grade than I thought I could. I had not written drama essays before Mrs Harris' lessons but now I am very confident. It also helped my English essays which I was struggling with. Mrs Harris' passion for drama inspired me to carry it on for A Level.
