About Jayne
I began my musical career at the age of 9 playing in brass bands on the cornet & flugelhorn. I began singing lessons in Warrington with Mrs Janette Wilson who was half Italian. She grounded me in the Italian tradition of singing and encouraged me to audition for music conservatoires. I gained a place at the RNCM (The Royal Northern College of Music) & studied with Miss Honor Sheppard & then Neil Howlett. At the RNCM I performed the title role of ‘Jenufa’, won the Dame Eva Turner award for dramatic sopranos, performed all over the UK in Oratorio, sung the title role of ‘Rusalka’ for Stowe Opera to highlight a few things I have done. After taking the decision to start a family I decided to teach instead, focusing on advanced vocal techniques & passing on my knowledge & expertise to younger students at the time. I built my business from scratch to a highly successful one at that. I offer top quality vocal tuition at all levels and in all styles. Speciality is Opera, Classical singing, Choral & Musical Theatre but also Folk, Jazz, Pop, Rock etc… is also offered. Graded examination work, aural training, sight singing, Vocal rehabilitation, singing in foreign languages, audition techniques, breathing etc… All Ages and Levels welcome from basic vocal technique to highly advanced work. Most of my former & current students are in either paid employment as singers, actors, TV work, taught Broadway & West End Stars. I have students in all the major UK music conservatoires Colleges of performing arts. on first study principal vocal courses, some on scholarships. I have students in The Hallé Youth Choirs, National Youth Choir of Great Britain, City of Manchester Opera (COMO), Leeds Youth Opera, & other various choral societies in the North West. I have students that have been accepted from its conception every year get onto the prestigious Glyndebourne Academy Course & recently its new Junior Academy course. Former students have also appeared on TV shows such as BBC’s “The Voice” “I Can See Your Voice” “Britain’s Got Talent” “Fame Academy” “Over the Rainbow”, performed at venues such as The Metropolitan House in New York, Edinburgh Fringe Festival & the O2 arena. Jayne can get students ready for Choral Scholarships & has had former students get into universities such as Oxford, Cambridge Durham as choral scholars. Jayne has taught in numerous schools and colleges in the North West over the years & also Grammar School students. Jayne also teaches in Blackpool at AVR dance working 1-2-1 lessons, small groups & working on in-house musical productions. Jayne is willing to travel within reason and continues to travel all over the North West teaching singing students and is quite happy to teach in the comfort of her own country home.

Classes are 1-1 with emphasis on Classical singing based on the old Italian school. Classical/Opera/Choral/Musical Theatre, Rock & Pop styles. Examination work, auditions, vocal rehab, language skills, music festivals & competition work. ABRSM/Trinity/Rockschool exams. Lessons can be 30/45 or 60 minutes. All ages and abilities & all styles taught. Over 20 years' experience resulting in many successful pupils both in the West End & Broadway, numerous TV appearances on talent shows, winners of major singing competitions & festivals all over the UK. Successful students have been awarded scholarships at the major UK music conservatoires, members of National Youth Choirs & The Hallé, the prestigious Glyndebourne Academy consecutive since its conception. I have also prepared singers to audition for Choral Scholarships at Oxford, Cambridge & Durham to success.
