About Sidney
Having graduated with a 1st in Jazz drums from Leeds Conservatoire last year, I am now working as a local musician and a 1 to 1 drum tutor at Fanfare Music. I started learning drums and piano when I was 8, and have since been playing in a range of environments, from local jazz venues, festivals, theatres and recording studios to weddings and other function events. No matter how much experience I gain, I will always consider myself to be a student of music, and would love to pass on what I have learned so far.

Being lucky enough to have had some excellent music tuition in my life, I understand the difference between a teacher who is just trying to get paid and one who is genuinely invested in their students. Music, and drumming especially, is a playful, creative and often challenging craft, and I aim to teach in a way that reflects this. With complete beginners I keep things practical, getting students working towards playing their first song as quickly as possible. From there, I can introduce technique and theory whenever it feels natural. As students progress I can take them in many directions, from learning improvisation and Jazz, to playing funk, rock, soul or Latin depending on the individuals taste and goals.
I have more experience teaching young students, but all ages and abilities are welcome from complete beginner to intermediate/advanced.
I have a car and can commute within Leeds and nearby areas, or students are welcome to take lessons at my house in the Hyde Park Area.

£15 at the students home, to cover my travel expenses for the shorter lessons :)
