About Atiyyah
I am a law student but many have found that I teach well and can build a connection with my students. Academics is one of my strong suits as my dad is a retired teacher with decades of experience. He has passed some of his skills onto me too! I can help out with English, Maths Literacy, Life Sciences, Geography, History,Business Studies, Accounting and even Life Orientation. For primary school kids stuggling with certain subjects, I have a kumon style method and a fun knowledge inducing method dependent on their personality. I can help primary school kids from Grade 1-7 in all subjects, especially to get them ahead of their peers in Maths and English. Non-academically, I am into the biggest organ of our body- our skin! I am passionate about making sure that everyone knows about all the philosophies I have learnt over the years as well as the types of things we put into our bodies, be it food or the products we use that our pores absorb. I can tailor a routine and eating plan for your skin type and condition to prevent acne, calm eczema, rid you of acne scars and protect your skin from premature aging. My teaching methods are non-conventional as some would say. To high school students, I give them a taste of the independence they will experience in the tertiary sector. No one is spoon fed or chased for their exercises and everyone is expected to be prepared for the day's lesson. Once there is a level of discipline and respect between my students and I, I welcome fun learning activities and debating on topics. I like to say that I am not here to be your class teacher and dull your shine. I am here as a more experienced figure to show the ropes on how I got where I am. I hope to be a mentor even in your personal relations and self development so that we may enhance your shine together! At the end of the day I analyse my students personalities to see what will suit them and how they learn better and then I of course tweak my methods here and there to create a well flowing stream of knowledge from me to them.
For primary school kids, I highly depend my teaching methods on their personalities. I have to see whether they get bored with a conventional style of teaching and then doing exercises or if they thrive in it. Most primary schoolers who struggle with certain subjects respond better to a fun, visual and interactive style of teaching and so I enjoy doing that with my younger learners. For mathematics however, I have found that a kumon style of PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE helps. So I adjust the style of timing and rewarding according the child's personality.
