My teaching method is based on the specific works of contemporary thinkers. For instance, one lesson will be on Voltaire's Candide, while another will look at Mandeville's Fable of the Bees. The lessons will use these texts as a jumping off point to discuss the wider social, economic, political and cultural movements of the period. Some lessons will take a more thematic approach to the history of this period and look at changes in society (i.e. urbanization, gender politics, political dissidents). I have roughly 15 planned classes, more can be added based on feedback and reception. Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific interests from this period.
I am a KCL History graduate from the 2017 class. I graduated with First class honours, my specialism is European (1700-1945) social, political, gender and philosophical history. I also have experience in modern Chinese and ancient European political, social, military and philosophical history. I am happy to give lessons on specific historical events, individuals, movements, or theories. If you are currently studying something relevant to my specialism I am happy to suggest readings, talk through the material, and proof-read work.
Free to cancel before 24 hours of the lesson. Within 24 hours of the lesson, I will charge £7.50 to cancel.
