About Katie
I started knitting at a young age as my Mum taught me when I was about 10 or 11. Now I am knitting clothes for my own young daughter with the skills that she passed down to me. I taught myself to crochet when I was about 15 and I have taught others to crochet and knit since then, as well as designed patterns and written for publications about knitting.
Knitting and crochet are what I come back to time and again and I consider myself advanced in both crafts. However, I also love anything I can do with my own hands and have learnt skills in machine/hand sewing, macramé, basketry, spinning and weaving over the years too.
I feel passionate about others learning a craft as the benefits to health and wellbeing are wide-reaching. I look forward to sharing that passion with you whether you're picking up needles or a hook for the first time, or looking for help with a new technique.

My teaching can cover beginners up to advanced. I can help you to cast-on your first project, or discover and master new techniques.
My own expertise includes - stranded colourwork, lace, sock knitting, cables, working in the round (DPNs or magic loop), reading charts and adapting patterns for better fit.
I provide the first 30min session for free. We will assess your current skills and find out what you're hoping to achieve from tutoring so we can get the most out of our time together.
