About Gur

My name is Gur Arie Piepskovitz I’m A Hebrew tutor a theatre and performance maker residing in London since July 2014.
I was born in Israel in 1986 to а Jewish family of Ashkenazi descent. I grew up in the outskirts of Tel- Aviv. I attended the prestigious arts school Thelma Yellin followed by the Yоrаm Lowenstein acting Studio where I graduated in 2009. I completed а Masters degree in Performance at Goldsmiths University of London in 2016. Alongside tutoring I have been presenting my work in different venues around the UK.
For Hebrew tutees:
I have always had а great respect for languages, especially Hebrew. My work as in actor has been enhanced by my command of Hebrew and by engaging with its highly challenging texts. I have a thorough knowledge of early and modern Jewish history. My interests in the arts and culture provide opportunities to continue learning. Hebrew tutoring provides me with а connection to my roots through two of the most important elements of my life: words and language.
I am hard working and I believe in contributing to my community. For two years I have been donating my time to teach theatre at а religious kindergarten in Tel-Aviv. in 2015, I have taught acting as a volunteer at the CEN8 Organisation in New Cross.
My method for tutoring depends on the student, however my main belief is that learning a language is a craft, it requires practice and passion, hence to intrigue my students I bring different kind of reading material and music that is part of the Israeli culture.

My name is Gur Arie Piepskovitz I’m a theatre and performance maker and a Hebrew tutor residing in London since July 2014.
For acting tutees :
I have been presenting my work in different venues around the UK, Royal Vauxhall Tavern Hall, Greenside at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Belgrade theatre in Coventry, and the Camden People’s Theatre.
Of the latter, “Don’t F**k with my Unicorn!”, Tim Bano wrote for “The Stage:” Gur Arie Piepskovitz’s montage piece is a bewildering celebration of those quirks –like a unicorn horn that makes us unique –a skewering of contemporary culture at every level"
In my productions I put an emphasis on the actor or performer and I am experienced in achieving a result that will satisfy me and my actor.
I am hard working and I believe in contributing to my community. For two years I have been donating my time to teach theatre at а religious kindergarten in Tel-Aviv. in 2015, I have taught acting as a volunteer at the CEN8 Organisation in New Cross.
My method is mainly influenced by the work of Sanford Meisner. His believe in the “reality of doing”, the importance of the objective in each sequence, and what is the task to be accomplished.
This add up to his statement that the performer “lives truthfully under given imaginary circumstances”, hence, I highlight the tension between the performance actions and the performer’s mode on stage.
Together with the performer I encourage building an inner-monologue combined of images and sub-texts, to enrich and create an extra layer to the performance. This technique helps to build a frame work that allow us to develop an organic flow.
The use of sub-text enable us to act truthfully, feel organic in the moment and react only to what is happening on stage.
I have a vast knowledge in theatre plays and I can offer my tutees a verity of texts to work with and be inspired by.
