I believe that it is important to ensure students enjoy what they are studying, as this has been shown to improve information retention as well as promote independent study. I try to listen to students concerns about what they feel they need to improve, but also place the language in the context of the culture in which they are spoken in order to broaden student's world view and aid their understanding.
