I have a very enthusiastic approach to teaching, as languages can be complicated to get the hang of. It is important to ensure full engagement of the students to increase their retention ability. Languages should be fun whilst remaining informative!
I am a final year student at Sheffield Hallam University studying Languages with International Business (Spanish and German). I have been learning German for 7 years, and have even spent a year working in Germany. I have always had a flair for languages, and would love to inspire other students to learn languages.
I am currently in the final year of my Languages with International Business degree, from which I am expecting an upper second-class honours. As part of this course, I spent 18 months living abroad. I spent 6 months studying at the University of Alicante in Spain, then moved to Düsseldorf in Germany to carry out a work placement in a marketing firm for a year. Moving abroad on my own taught me many values; the main one being independence, but also realising I can do just about anything once I set my mind to it. I developed my Spanish and German skills greatly and gained invaluable intercultural knowledge.
I pride myself on my punctuality, good work ethic and organisational skills. I have great interpersonal skills, and am a very approachable person, being very warm and friendly. I am a very hard worker and love to get stuck in to things, always wholly dedicating myself to any task given.
Sheffield Hallam University – Student Support Tutor October 2018 – present
Within this role, I deliver lessons once a week to international students studying at Sheffield Business School. Together with another tutor, we plan the lessons ourselves and deliver them in the style we think is best suited to each session. These lessons are designed to help the students settle in to life in Sheffield, improve their English and understand English culture better.
