About Ale
I fell in love with Latin and Greek at the liceo classico (a specialist Italian secondary school focused on Latin, Ancient Greek and the humanities) and I've spent the last 15 years helping other people fall for them too. In that time I've tutored just about every age and level: nervous beginners, GCSE and A-Level students under exam pressure, university undergraduates, and curious adults picking up the languages for the first time.
What I've learned is that nobody is "bad at Latin" or "hopeless at Greek" — they've just never been shown the method. My job is to make the ancient world click: to turn a wall of endings and vocabulary into something logical, translatable and, honestly, satisfying. Patient when it's hard, demanding when it counts, and always tailored to the person in front of me.

Italian
Every lesson begins with a review of grammar. We revisit the key structures the pupil has covered, clear up anything that isn't fully understood, and fill in the gaps before moving on — so that new material always rests on solid foundations.
From there I teach a clear, repeatable method for translation. Rather than guessing from the first word, we start from the verb: identify it, establish its person, tense and mood, and then reconstruct the sentence around it — subject, objects, subordinate clauses — piece by piece. This gives the pupil a reliable way to approach any unseen passage with confidence instead of anxiety.
We also build vocabulary through focused glossary work, so that the words most needed for the texts and the syllabus become second nature.
Finally, tests and exercises are designed around each pupil's individual needs — targeting weak points, reinforcing progress, and preparing directly for the exams that matter to them.
