About Laura
- What kind of experience do you have?
As a teacher, I have experience teaching private pupils as well as being a cover teacher for Yorkshire Young Musicians and the RNCM Junior Academy. I have been an assistant trumpet tutor for NYO Inspire and I have completed placements with Artis and BBC Philharmonic Outreach.
I also work as a freelance orchestral musician, performing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Halle, Opera North and BBC Philharmonic orchestras as well as the Royal Northern Sinfonia and Northern Chamber Orchestra. In addition to classical music, I have experience performing in jazz and pop genres.

Yes, I have a valid DBS certificate.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at the Royal Northern College of Music with Murray Greig, Rhys Owens, Gareth Small, Tracey Redfern and John Miller.

Hi! I am a freelance musician and brass teacher, specialising in trumpet and cornet.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach trumpet, cornet, tenor horn, baritone and euphonium.
I also tutor for music theory exams.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a first class BMus (Hons) degree and an MMus degree with distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music.
- How much do you charge?
I charge £20 / half hour lesson and £30 / hour lesson.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my house in Manchester or I can also travel to you if you would prefer.
- When are you available?
As a freelance musician, this can be very flexible!
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all ages from beginner to advanced, including any preparation for examinations - ABRSM grades or equivalent. If you are learning music theory, I can tutor ABRSM grades 1 - 5.
