Lauren - Walthamstow - Support For Students With Dyspraxia

Methodology

I teach French Horn, Tenor Horn, Trumpet, Cornet, Baritone and Euphonium to all ages (including adults) and abilities. I love playing and my pupils enjoy learning with me.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

French Horn, Tenor Horn, Cornet, Trumpet, Euphonium and Baritone to exam standard, ABRSM or Trinity.
I can include music theory in my lessons.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I am in my final year of a Bmus(hons) in Horn at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I have Grade 8 distinction and an ABRSM Diploma in French Horn. I have been teaching for over 5 years and really enjoy every minute of it. For more information about me as a player see my CV.

I am empathetic and understand different learning styles so I know how to make lessons interesting and motivating. I studied English and Psychology at A level as well as Music, so I have a broad base of knowledge that I can apply to my teaching.

- How much do you charge?

A consultation lesson is £10
Hourly Rate £25

- Where do you teach?

I am willing to travel to students' houses, I am based near Barbican so lessons can also be held there. Areas such as Tower Hamlets and Waltham Forest are very close to my home.

- When are you available?

My times are flexible, and I can change week to week to suit a pupil.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

Any age and any ability. Beginners are welcome.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

ABRSM Exams - and various others if students request

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I want to inspire in my pupils a love of music so that they enjoy it as much as I do. I work to build a positive relationship with you so that you feel relaxed and comfortable in your music. You are welcome to just try a lesson even if it has been a long time since you played, or you've never played at all. A consultation lesson is £10 and there is no obligation.

As an adult beginner I found taking up an instrument pretty daunting.
Lauren made me feel very at ease from the outset, and wasn't
patronising in the least. We work at a level that I find challenging
but attainable - a great all round tutor!

Lauren has been teaching my 11-year old daughter, Lucy, for about 9 months, and has supported her through two changes of instrument (from baritone horn to euphonium and now French horn). Lucy enjoys the lessons a great deal and Lauren has been really good at combining a fun approach with excellent and sustained technical guidance, so Lucy is actually making progress! Lauren is a lovely teacher and I would recommend her highly.
