Firstly, I would assess the level and objectives of the individual wishing to learn English. Then, based on that, work towards building vocabulary, grammar and making sure the student meets his/her learning objectives. Having learned English myself I can suggest tips and tricks to improve understanding and speaking, which are not usually taught within the normal framework of traditional English classes.
