About Atticus
My name is Atticus Walton-Hayfield, and I’m a graduate from the University of Exeter, achieving a First-Class degree. I achieved an A* in English Literature at A-Level and was awarded an A* for my EPQ, which involved extensive historical and literary research. I’ve also been commended for my writing in national essay competitions, including the Peter Cane Legal Prize run by Corpus Christi, Oxford. I want to teach because I genuinely enjoy helping others develop clarity in their thinking and confidence in their writing. Throughout my academic journey—from debating and public speaking to legal outreach projects in schools—I’ve seen how transformative one-on-one guidance can be. English has always been a subject I’ve loved, not just for its creative potential but for the critical thinking and expression it encourages. As someone who has benefited from great teaching, I’m passionate about passing those skills on to students looking to reach their full potential.

I’m a second-year law student at the University of Exeter with an A* in English Literature and an EPQ graded A* (48/50), awarded for analytical writing. I was also commended in the Peter Cane Legal Essay Prize run by Corpus Christi College, Oxford. I tutor GCSE and A-Level English students online, focusing on building analytical confidence, strong essay technique, and a deep understanding of both language and literature. My lessons typically last 60 minutes and are tailored to each student’s learning style and exam board requirements.
