About Robert
Over 15 years I've edited, filmed and directed across a wide range of formats and industries, from wedding video and corporate production to local TV, in-house content, and international event coverage, where I also built and managed my own video team from scratch.
Throughout my career I've always got a lot out of helping colleagues develop, particularly people earlier in their journey. Managing a team and watching people grow in confidence was one of the most satisfying parts of the job. Teaching feels like a natural extension of that.
I like structure and clear processes, and that comes through in how I teach. We'll start by working out what you actually want to achieve, whether that's landing a specific role, learning a particular style, or getting faster and more confident in your day-to-day editing. From there we build a plan around that goal rather than just working through things arbitrarily. You'll always know what we're working towards and why.

I teach Adobe Premiere Pro in person, and that's a deliberate choice. Video editing is a hands-on skill. Being in the same room means I can see exactly what you're doing, catch the small habits that slow you down, and give you feedback in real time. Online lessons introduce friction that gets in the way of that.
Whoever you are and whatever you're editing, the fundamentals are the same. Over 15 years I've worked across a lot of different styles, and one of the most valuable things I picked up along the way was adaptability. Early on I got comfortable with one style and kept applying it to everything, which didn't work. Learning to look at a project, understand what it actually needs, and edit accordingly is something I now actively teach alongside the technical side.
Sessions are built around your work. If you've got a project on the go, that's where we start. We'll go through it together, identify what's working and what isn't, and improve it. The goal is always that you leave the session having made something better, not just having watched me demonstrate.
Alongside the practical work, I'll share the habits that have made the biggest difference to my own workflow over the years: project organisation, keyboard shortcuts, how to stay efficient when you're under pressure. The kind of stuff that doesn't make it into tutorials but makes a real difference day to day.
