If you live in or near Cambridge, you are welcome to have the lessons in the beautiful St John's College, or other colleges / locations!
I studied Classical Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Oxford, where I studied Latin and Ancient Greek to an advanced level. At the University of Cambridge, I took Akkadian classes, and I would love to share this amazingly interesting language with you! Unfortunately, I do not have a background in other Semitic languages (if you have, we can learn from each other!), but I can draw comparisons with many modern European languages (Germanic, Romance and Slavic) as well as with Latin and Greek.

We will work from John Huehnergard's "A Grammar of Akkadian". Learning cuneiform is option (but of course encouraged!). After each chapter, you will get a personalised and well-structured PowerPoint with all the grammar covered so far. We will go through the grammar of each chapter first, but the special focus will be the exercises, during which we can revise the grammar as much as necessary. The pace of the lessons will depend on the student! We can also work from "Complete Babylonian" by Martin Worthington if the student prefers that textbook.
If you have a special interest in linguistics, ancient Mesopotamia, Ancient Near Eastern archaeology, or particular Babylonian or Assyrian texts, please let me know!
