About Pam
Hi, I'm Pam! I'm a Kansas City mom of two, a small business owner, and a total Mahjong fan. I run a shop of American Mahjong printables (cheat sheets, scorecards, and club goodies), so I spend a lot of my time thinking about how to make this game easier and more fun for new players.
I know how overwhelming Mahjong looks the first time you sit down, and I love that moment when it suddenly clicks. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and never stuffy. No question is a silly question at my table. My goal is for you to leave every lesson feeling confident enough to join a game night, start a club with your friends, or just play for fun with family.

Always wanted to learn Mahjong but felt intimidated by the tiles, the card, and all the lingo? You are in the right place. I teach American Mahjong (the National Mah Jongg League style) to total beginners and to players who know the basics but want to feel confident at the table.
What we cover:
* The tiles: suits, honors, flowers, jokers, and how to set up your rack
* Building the wall and dealing
* The Charleston, step by step
* Reading the yearly card and choosing a hand that fits your tiles
* Calling, exposing, and joker rules
* Table etiquette, so you can walk into any game night or club with confidence
* Simple strategy: when to switch hands and what to discard
How lessons work:
Lessons are relaxed, hands on, and paced around you. Beginners usually feel ready to play a full game after two or three sessions. I teach one on one, couples, and small groups of up to four (a full table is the most fun way to learn!).
In person in the Kansas City area: I can come to your home, or we can meet at a local coffee shop or library. Great for friend groups, moms' nights, and new Mahjong clubs.
Online: we play together on a shared online Mahjong table over video, so you can learn from anywhere in the US.
I also design American Mahjong printables like cheat sheets and scorecards, so you will leave with helpful reference sheets to keep practicing between lessons.
