About Lubna
I'm Lubna, a Melbourne-based fine art practitioner and botanical watercolor artist with a deep love for the natural world and the quiet focus that painting brings.
My art practice spans botanical watercolor, English & Arabic calligraphy, Acrylic Painting and Islamic geometric pattern.
Alongside my fine art work I hold dual Master's degrees from RMIT University in Communication Design and Advertising, and I have spent over 10 years working as a professional designer and visual communicator. That design background gives me a strong foundation in color, composition and visual harmony — which I bring directly into how I teach.
I came to botanical watercolor through a love of detail, patience and the meditative quality of slow, careful observation. There is something deeply satisfying about sitting with a flower or a leaf and truly looking at it, and then capturing it on paper. I want every student to experience that feeling.
I teach because I believe creativity is not a talent you are born with, it is a practice you build. My lessons are calm, encouraging and completely pressure free. Whether you want a relaxing hobby, a creative outlet, or the beginning of a serious practice, you are welcome here.
Based in Hoppers Crossing in Melbourne's western suburbs. Available in person locally and online across Australia.

In these lessons you will learn the art of botanical watercolor — a beautiful, meditative practice that captures the delicate detail of flowers, leaves, herbs and plants using watercolor paint.
We begin with the fundamentals: understanding your paper, brushes and paints, mixing colors, controlling water and building washes. From there we move into observational drawing and painting from real botanical subjects — learning to see shape, light, shadow and texture with a fresh eye.
No prior art experience is needed. These lessons are designed for complete beginners who want a creative practice that is calming, rewarding and genuinely enjoyable. Sessions are relaxed, encouraging and paced entirely around you.
Each lesson covers:
Materials and brush technique
Color mixing and wash control
Observational drawing basics
Painting petals, leaves and stems
Building detail and depth in your work
