Learn French from an experienced native speaker or want to perfect your English? I can help! I am an experienced tutor, a native French speaker and a crack at English.

Methodology

Hi, I am Marlene. I was born in France and lived there for most of my life. I moved in the UK 4 years ago and I speak English like a proper Brit!

I studied English rather extensively at university for my Bachelor's degree, then moved on to a master in Teaching French as a foreign language. I have also been working as a teaching assistant and other various teaching roles for the past 3 years.

I have taught French and English to :1 to 1, small groups, big classes, young pupils, teenagers, adults who wanted to learn a new language, adults who wanted to brush up their language skills....

I am quite focused on grammar, especially when teacher French as it is essential to learn who the structure of the language works, however, I am not a grammar freak and I like to do fun activities like learning songs or working on videos from series or tv shows.

As a general rule I like to have a chat with the people I tutor to identify their wants and needs and make sure I build my lessons around things that will engage and interest them.

A typical lesson would probably involve some conversation activities, some comprehension work ( audio or written) and maybe some written exercises ( probably on vital grammar or conjugaison points!).

I would describe myself as easy going and patient. I am happy for you to ask me questions if you need to know more about me.

Background

I have been teaching French and English for over 3 years and I have taught a wide range of pupils from age 2 to 22.

I have focused on different approaches and have always been adapting my lesson and material to what my pupils needed to learn, wanted to learn and enjoyed learning.

Last year I taught children from Year 3 to Year 6. All of them had little to no English when we started working together and by the end of the school year they were all able to follow basic conversations and had reached A1 to A2 level.

I have also tutored pupils for GCSE and A-level , both privately and in a school setting.
