About Duval

Hello, my name is Duval, and I am a native French speaker with a deep passion for teaching my language to others. I have always believed that learning a new language should be an exciting journey, not a stressful obligation. My background has given me strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple, easy-to-understand ways. I am organized, punctual, and genuinely committed to helping each student succeed at their own pace. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone looking to refine advanced skills, I will adapt to your needs and learning style. I have worked with students of all ages, from young children to working professionals and retirees, and I take great pride in seeing their confidence grow with every lesson. What makes me a reliable tutor is my consistency: I prepare every session in advance, provide clear feedback, and always follow up on your progress. You can trust that I will show up on time, listen carefully to your goals, and adjust my teaching whenever necessary. My promise to you is simple: every class will leave you feeling more capable and motivated to speak French. I am not here to judge or rush you, I am here to guide you step by step. Let's learn together in a respectful, encouraging, and positive environment. My name is Duval, and I look forward to helping you master French with confidence.

My teaching methodology is built around communication and real-world practice. I believe the best way to learn French is to speak it from day one. I use a communicative approach, meaning I focus on practical conversations, listening comprehension, and situational role-playing rather than boring grammar drills. I adapt my techniques to each student's learning style – some learn best visually, others through repetition or conversation.

A typical lesson plan (60 minutes):

First 5-10 minutes: Warm-up conversation in French about your week, hobbies, or daily life. This builds confidence and spontaneity.

Next 15-20 minutes: Quick review of vocabulary or grammar points from the previous lesson, followed by a short written or oral exercise.

Core 20-25 minutes: Main topic of the day (e.g., ordering food at a restaurant, using past tense, preparing for an interview). We practice through dialogues, listening to short audio clips, or reading a text together.

Final 10 minutes: Q&A, corrections, and assigning a small takeaway task (like writing 5 sentences or watching a 2-minute video in French).

What sets me apart as a tutor:
My name is Duval, and I bring a patient, encouraging, and structured approach to every session. Unlike strict academic teachers, I create a relaxed environment where mistakes are welcome – because that's how we learn. I also customize every lesson based on your personal goals, whether you need French for travel, work, an exam, or simply for fun. I provide all materials (PDFs, links, exercises) for free, so you don't need to buy any textbooks.

Who these lessons are for:
My lessons are suitable for all levels, from absolute beginners (A1) to advanced learners (C1). I work with:

High school or university students needing help with French homework or exam preparation (DELF, DALF, TEF Canada)

Adults who want conversational French for travel or personal enrichment

Professionals seeking business French for meetings, emails, or presentations

Immigrants or newcomers to Canada who want to improve their French for daily life or citizenship

No matter your age or background, if you want to learn French in a supportive, no-pressure environment, I am here to help.
