About Brian

Brian Clemens is a jazz pianist, arranger, and bandleader originally from Los Angeles. After earning his Master’s Degree in California and studying under Grammy Award-winning pianist/arranger Bill Cunliffe, Brian established himself in the vibrant Los Angeles music scene. He has headlined at renowned venues such as Herb Albert's Vibrato Jazz Grill and Campus JAX. Recently, Brian has gained international acclaim, captivating audiences in countries such as The Netherlands and Spain. His latest album, "Live in London Ft. Francesca Confortini," was recorded in London in the autumn of 2023 and is available on all streaming platforms. Brian Clemens draws inspiration from legendary pianists such as Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles, Billy Joel, and George Shearing. His arranging styles reflect the influence of greats like Billy May and Nelson Riddle.

My qualifications: - 20+ years of piano experience - 10 years of gigging in the vast Los Angeles music scene - Master's Degree in Music Performance from Cal State Fullerton, Bachelor of Arts in Music from Chapman University in California - Strong Classical Background with Teachers Whom Have Studied at the Moscow Conservatory and the Royal Academy of Music, London - 10+ years of teaching experience including private and classroom teaching - Quality gigging experience as a pianist, arranger, and bandleader - Speciality in Jazz (Swing, Latin, Bebop, etc...), Pop, Rock, Country Styles - Fun, organised interactive lessons that also focus on music theory, aural skills, music appreciation, and overall musicianship Classical Piano - Beginning to Intermediate I offer beginning to intermediate lessons in classical piano. - Scales, arpeggios, technical exercises, etc.. - Ear training - Music theory/harmony analysis - Sight reading Pop Piano - Learn how to formulate chords and play a pop accompaniment - Learn how to read lead sheets - Learn about popular chord progressions Learn to improvise/play in the jazz style! When teaching jazz improvisation and classical piano, my philosophy is that the lessons are the most successful once the student has found their own unique voice and creativity and combined it with their technical skills they have learned on the side, ultimately expressing themselves, displaying their creativity, and moving others in the process.
