About Alexia
Ciao! I’m Alexia, and I’d love to help you learn Italian and become a more confident speaker.
I was born and raised in Italy, then moved to London more than ten years ago and I’ve also lived and studied in China.
I speak four languages, so I know what it feels like to learn a new one: from the initial challenges and moments of doubt to the great satisfaction of finally expressing yourself naturally.
For me, learning a language is about much more than memorising grammar rules. It’s a way to connect with people, understand different cultures, and feel at home in new situations. That is at the heart of my lessons. We will work towards accurate Italian while also exploring the language people use in everyday life—around the dinner table, at the market or over coffee with friends.
Outside teaching, I enjoy travelling and discovering new places, writing about culture and identity, cooking dishes from different cuisines, and eating absolutely everything.
Whether you’re learning Italian for travel, work, an exam, a job interview, a relationship or personal interest, I’d love to support you.

My Experience and Approach
- Tutoring and teaching: I have led conversation sessions for English-speaking students in London, helping them overcome shyness, improve their fluency and refine their pronunciation. In China, I taught English to Chinese children, an experience that help me learn how to explain complex ideas in a simple way and adapt my approach to students with different needs.
- My lessons: I offer a plan tailored to your level, goals, pace and interests. We will work on conversation, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary through dialogues and real-life situations. We will also use videos, podcasts, music, articles and other materials to develop your listening, reading and writing skills.
- Italian language and culture: Through authentic materials, we will explore everyday life and contemporary Italian culture. The aim is not only to speak correctly, but also to communicate naturally in different contexts.
- A polyglot’s perspective: Having learned several languages myself as an adult, I understand the challenges involved and know how important it is to feel supported and free to make mistakes.
Lesson length:
Lessons are typically 60 minutes long—the perfect amount of time to stay focused, practise speaking, and absorb new concepts without feeling overwhelmed. (Note: You can change this to 45 or 90 minutes if you prefer!)
