About Madoka
I am a Japanese artist, educator, and mother with a passion for helping people express themselves creatively and connect with Japanese language and culture. I believe that everyone can make meaningful art—there is no single definition of “good” or “bad” art. What matters is developing your own voice, building skills at your own pace, and creating work that feels authentic to you.
I grew up with Japanese culture and enjoy sharing it with students through welcoming, practical, and personalized lessons. Whether you are learning Japanese for travel, conversation, work, or personal interest, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as you learn.
As an educator, I bring professional experience in art, design, and Japanese translation to every lesson. I hold a BFA in Interactive Art and an MFA in Digital Art, and I have taught art at both the high school and college levels. My goal is to provide patient guidance, clear feedback, and a supportive space where students can gain confidence in Japanese, art, and their own creative abilities.

My Japanese lessons are tailored to your goals, whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for travel, improving your conversational skills, or using Japanese professionally. We can focus on speaking, grammar, reading, writing, practical everyday phrases, and Japanese culture. With experience as a marketing translator and web designer, I also understand technology industry language and can help professionals develop practical Japanese for communicating with colleagues, clients, and teams.
- Art lessons:
I teach digital art, drawing, and painting through demonstrations, guided practice, constructive feedback, and projects based on your interests. Lessons can cover fundamentals such as composition, color, perspective, and visual storytelling, or focus on developing your illustration style, strengthening a portfolio, or becoming more confident with digital tools. I can teach Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. I hold a BFA in Interactive Art and an MFA in Digital Art, and I have taught art at both high school and college levels.

Every lesson is tailored to your level, interests, and objectives. We will begin with a brief review, focus on a specific skill or topic, practice together, and finish with feedback and clear next steps.
