About Iris
I volunteered as a Japanese language teacher for one year in the United States, where I had the opportunity to help students learn Japanese and introduce them to Japanese culture. I also studied abroad in New York, so I understand what it feels like to learn and communicate in a different language and culture. I know that speaking a new language can sometimes feel intimidating, and I want to make Japanese learning fun, comfortable, and practical. We can also talk about topics you enjoy, such as Japanese food, fashion, travel, university life, entertainment, and everyday life in Japan. Whether you're learning your first Japanese phrases or want to become more confident having conversations, I'd love to help you reach your goals!

I'm currently a university student in Tokyo, and I've also studied abroad in New York. Because of my experience living in both Japan and the US, I understand how challenging—and exciting—learning a new language and culture can be! I'd love to help you feel more comfortable using Japanese in real-life situations, whether you're just starting out or already studying Japanese. I'll explain things clearly in English when necessary, but I'll gradually encourage you to use more Japanese as you become comfortable. I also love talking about Japanese culture, Tokyo, food, fashion, entertainment, university life, and what everyday life in Japan is really like!
