About Ashlyn

Ni hao! My name is Ashlyn, and I'm a Mandarin teacher with a unique perspective on Chinese language and culture.

I was born and raised in Cambodia, and my family is of Chinese descent. Growing up, I was exposed to both Khmer and Chinese cultures, which gave me a deep appreciation for the richness and diversity of Asia.

After completing my education in Cambodia, I moved to China to study Mandarin and to explore the country that has played such an important role in my family's history. While there, I fell in love with the language and the culture, and I decided to pursue a career in teaching Mandarin to non-native speakers.

My teaching style is focused on making Mandarin accessible and engaging for my students. I believe that language is best learned through conversation and real-life situations, so I encourage my students to speak Mandarin from the very first lesson.

In addition to teaching Mandarin, I'm also passionate about sharing Chinese culture with my students. I believe that language and culture are intimately connected, and that learning Mandarin is not only about mastering vocabulary and grammar, but also about gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese history, art, and traditions.

When I'm not teaching, you can find me exploring new restaurants in Phnom Penh, practicing traditional Chinese calligraphy, or spending time with my family and friends.

I'm excited to share my knowledge and experience with you, and to help you achieve your language goals. So let's get started on this journey together!
