About Sam

Whether you’re a complete beginner learning your first transitions, or someone with experience looking to refine your mixing, I’ll adapt each session so you get the most out of your time.

With over 10 years of DJ experience and a strong academic background — BA in Music Production and a First-Class MA in Sound Design — I bring both a practical and technical approach to music. Alongside DJing, I’ve spent two years teaching at university level in game audio, implementation, and sound design. This experience has given me a clear and structured teaching style, helping students of all levels understand not just how to DJ, but why the techniques work. This is with a large focus on practicality, NOT academia.

My deep knowledge of electronic music means I can give you more than just the basics: I’ll help you understand the structure of tracks, improve your ear for detail, and develop your own creative style. My aim is to make you feel confident and skilled so you will require minimum planning when it comes to your sets.

About the lesson

I offer tailored DJ’ing tuition depending on your experience. My background in studying electronic music and teaching audio at university level means I can explain both the why and the how behind beginner to advanced DJ techniques and concepts. 1 - 2 hour lessons Beginner to Advanced

All styles welcome - I mix a lot of Garage, House, Disco, Drum & Bass and Jungle!

My availability is from 7pm Mon - Fri and Weekends

Once on board I'll plan lessons and goals with students directly via WhatsApp

1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?
1) I started playing drums when I was around 9/10 years old. A few years later I got my Grade 8 in drumming. I then picked up Djing around 16/17 years old and that became my main focus. Rhythm is king
2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
2) I always try to listen to as many artists and genres as possible. I can't listen to the same artist or track on repeat. I'd go insane
3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
3) Learning how to beatmatch / scratch with records on turntables.
4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
4) I think that's subjective and depends from person to person. Maybe the Bassoon? I wouldn't know where to start
