About Katie
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated languages teacher looking to help all those requiring language tuition in London and online. I come from a trilingual family and have spoken Spanish, Portuguese and English since childhood. I studied languages as part of my undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds, obtaining a first class BA in History with Spanish and Portuguese. I then spent a decade working in law, during which time I used my language skills numerous times to translate documents and interpret during phone calls and meetings. I also kept my language skills in use by volunteering as a languages tutor for The Access Project, a programme providing underprivileged students in the UK with academic tuition opportunities. In 2018, I returned to my language roots and qualified as a languages teacher. I taught Spanish for three years to London secondary school students, focusing on GCSE and A Level exam preparation. I also worked additionally as a Portuguese GCSE speaking examiner during exam season, something which I continue to do today. In 2021, I finally decided to focus full-time on my private tutoring career as a Spanish and Portuguese language tutor. I am passionate about languages and the cultures in which they are spoken. As well as helping you reach the level of proficiency you’re aiming for, I hope that my sessions will inspire you to really fall in love with Portuguese and want to use it further in the future!

My hour-long lessons are designed to be an open and encouraging space in which students can practise and improve their language skills. I work to ensure that they are fun, interactive and as light-hearted as possible while always focused intently on my students' learning needs. What sets me apart is that I tailor my sessions to each individual student's particular strengths, goals and interests to ensure maximum engagement. If you choose to work with me, we will discuss your particular needs and learning style during our free introductory session. Whatever your personal passion (be it music or films, football or travel), we can find a way to incorporate it into our lessons!
