About Jarlath
Guitar's been my main hobby for 6 years, entirely self-taught, based in Surbiton and deep into rock and metal — Metallica, Slash, Dimebag Darrell, and Zakk Wylde are the names that shaped how I play. I've just come out the other side of my A-levels and have a genuinely open summer before university starts in September. Teaching appeals to me because I know exactly how frustrating those first few months alone with a guitar can be, and I'd love to make that easier for someone else.

Every student learns differently, so I build lessons around what excites you — whether that's your first chords or your first solo. I make sure fundamentals are genuinely solid early on: hand position, rhythm, and picking technique, so nothing needs re-teaching later. Alongside that, we work on real riffs and songs from lesson one, because progress feels motivating when you can actually play something you recognise. I keep things patient and pressure-free, explain everything in plain language rather than dense theory, and set small, achievable goals between sessions so you always know what to practise.
