About Leah
I am a Higher Education Lecturer at a land based college rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted, with six years’ experience delivering teaching across classroom, practical, and field-based learning environments. I hold a BSc in Zoology, an MSc in Wildlife Management, and a PGCE, with specialist expertise in wildlife conservation, ecology, animal sciences, and ethics and welfare.
Over the past decade, I have gained extensive industry experience through roles including zoo keeper, practical instructor, and field research associate. I have also worked in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, contributing to field-based conservation research and gaining valuable experience in wildlife management and ecological monitoring.
I currently teach students from Level 3 to Level 6, supporting learners through academic study, practical skills development, research projects, and professional preparation. My teaching approach combines scientific knowledge with real-world industry experience, helping students develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and a deeper understanding of biological and environmental sciences.

Each lesson is led by the individual learners and whatever starting point they may have. Lessons can be tailored to additional needs such as SEN, dyslexia, ASD and other learning needs. Focus on understanding, contextualisation of learning and preparation for assessment. Lesson plans can be adjusted depending on whether the goal is assessment planning, project work or simply to dive more deeply into particular topics. High quality original teaching materials and resources will be used for every lesson.
