My teaching method is quite flexible and will often depend on each individual student and their preferred learning styles. I base my lessons around the current curriculum - can be AQA/Edexel/OCR (for GCSE or A-level) or up to KS3 level. I tend to approach each topic in smaller sections and break core units etc. down into easier to absorb sub-units.
I've generally given lessons to students preparing for 11+, English and Maths at primary school level, and Maths at GCSE level. I'm also open to supporting students who study A-Level Maths. My ways of teaching are centred around examples - real life or artificial examples that can help a student understand what I'm teaching.
My teaching method is individualistic and I will tailor my teaching to the student. I will encourage students to find their own methods of learning and help them achieve better grades through improving their approach to revision. I am a calm and patient tutor and will manage the student regardless of their learning pace.
My teaching method focuses on study techniques for those who struggle to meet their potential in exams. While also allowing my pupils to show me exactly what they don’t understand before attempting to go through it again and then asking them to practice with me.
I adapt my methods for the child. For example for a teanage boy with ADD, I'll make things fast, repetitive and fun. However for a quiet shy girl with trouble reading, we would go slow and steady. If your child requires a tutor, you want them to have that extra help, my methods allow me to adapt to your child's needs. Education isn't a "one glove fits all" situation.
I start by explaining the method in an accessible way, and gradually building confidence and security in subjects of difficulty.
Most of my lessons taught are students aged 8-17. Either preparing for 11+ or sitting GCSE/A level exams. I believe that confidence is built through nurturing the correct techniques right from the start. I have witnessed through experience that with committed practice, any student can fulfill their desired goals at any mathematical level.
Teaching at its best is helping each student to grow in confidence, proficiency and love for the subject. (And yes, I am more than ready to prove to budding scientists that being a star at English will lift them above their peers!) I work with individuals and small groups, typically planning four session blocks around specific areas of focused improvement.
