Cricket is a layered sport, and the most effective way to learn it is step by step.

• Begin with batting basics: footwork, head position and bat swing are the foundation of good strokeplay.
• Work on your bowling technique: line, length and a consistent action are worth more than speed early on.
• Practise fielding skills: clean pick-ups, safe catches and quick throws are non-negotiable.
• Get to grips with cricket strategy: shot selection, bowling plans and field settings come with experience and study.

A private cricket tutor adapts the sessions to your strengths and weaknesses, helping you progress far faster than self-study.

The average cost of cricket lessons in Epsom is around £50/h.

Several factors influence the final price:

• Your ability and ambition, whether you're picking up a bat for fun or aiming at county trials.
• The tutor's background, with ECB-accredited or former professional players charging more.
• The lesson length and regularity, since multi-session packages typically come with discounts.
• The setting, whether that's an indoor school, an outdoor net or remote video analysis.
