Using 5-6-7-8 separates the preparation from the dance itself, which always starts on count 1.

• The underlying pulse of most songs divides into sets of four counts.
• Dancers learn routines in sections of eight, which feel natural and match musical phrases.
• Counting 5-6-7-8 alerts everyone that the choreography will start on the next beat 1.

This convention keeps classes and performances perfectly synchronised.

A private dance lesson in Enfield generally runs about £32/h.

This price can vary depending on several factors:

• Your current ability (newcomer through to experienced dancer)
• The instructor's training and background (professional credentials, performance history)
• The duration and regularity of your sessions
• How you take classes (virtual sessions, home visits or studio-based tuition)

Many teachers offer discounted packages for booking multiple sessions, which lowers your cost per hour.

Street dance and hip-hop appeal to beginners who enjoy energetic, freestyle movement.

• Partner dances like salsa develop rhythm awareness and connection with a lead or follow.
• Hip-hop foundations teach isolations, grooves and musicality without strict rules.
• Ballet and contemporary build posture, core strength and body control over time.

A good teacher matters more than the style, so choose classes with supportive instruction.
