Using 5-6-7-8 separates the preparation from the dance itself, which always starts on count 1.

• The underlying pulse of most songs divides into sets of four counts.
• An 8-count phrase covers two bars of music and helps structure movement sequences.
• This lead-in gives dancers a shared reference point to move together.

Think of 5-6-7-8 as a countdown that ends right before the action begins.

A private dance lesson in Slough generally runs about £19/h.

This price can vary depending on several factors:

• Your current ability (beginner, intermediate or advanced)
• The teacher's experience and qualifications (industry certifications and teaching experience)
• The duration and regularity of your sessions
• The lesson format (virtual sessions, home visits or studio-based tuition)

Quite a few instructors provide a free trial lesson so you can test their teaching style before committing.

Street dance and hip-hop appeal to beginners who enjoy energetic, freestyle movement.

• Partner dances like salsa develop rhythm awareness and connection with a lead or follow.
• These styles encourage personal expression and adapt well to any fitness level.
• If long-term technique matters to you, classical training creates a strong base.
