Teaching the newly reformed Edexcel economics syllabus to A Level students in preparation for their summer exams - it's always best to start early. I recently left school with A*A*B and have the desire to pass on my methods, techniques and most importantly my revision advice to year 13 students.
I base my approach on generating an interest and a final outcome from the situation or problem. By seeing an end goal it provides motivation to get there. I also believe in making learning enjoyable and relating it to a real example someone may experience. That not only helps with learning the subject, but also aids life experience.
I am an experienced business studies and economics tutor teaching across all the exam boards.
I finished my masters degree in economics and finance at Durham University in September 2010, graduating with a distinction. Whilst I hope to start a career in this area in the future, I am currently pursuing my other passion - rowing.
I am currently a student and I teach students till A-level. I did IGCSE which is a bit advanced compared to the normal GCSE, hence I feel I can help you get the best grade you can. I first go through the syllabus and find where the child is weak at and then target these and help them to get better using different techniques.
I will base my classes on questions, working towards the exam early on. Writing model answers from multiple sources to broaden the understanding of each subject and problem. When a subject is particularly tricky I will help the individual to establish the right answer by looking at the issue from different angles.
I tailor the lessons in order to make sure that the child learns and grasps the new/difficult concepts. Practice makes perfect so I will give homework questions based on the topics covered within the lesson. I like to ensure lessons are interactive too, so i will try and incorporate a game into a few lessons to ensure the child remains focused and engaged.
