Unlike English, German places the conjugated verb immediately after the question word.

Did you know that this lovely city has special ties with Germany?
First off, Nottingham has been twinned with the city of Karlsruhe, in Germany, since 1969. Nestled on the right bank of the Rhine river, this sister city shares many of Nottingham's lovelier characteristics: long promenades by the water, stunning architecture and warm, friendly people.
But Nottingham has another German connection; one perhaps more telling than being twinned with Germany's main oil refinery town and internet hub.
In the 18th Century, a German author and traveller made his way out of London to see what else Great Britain had to offer. He was stunned by Nottingham's beauty and modernity, averring that this city was every bit as cosmopolitan and picturesque as our capital city.
Maybe, taken separately, these aren't reasons enough for you to study the German language. However, if you wanted to walk in the aforementioned German author K.P. Moritz's footsteps or visit Nottingham's sister city in the southeast of Germany, taking German lessons is a very good idea, indeed.
And here's another great reason to take German lessons in Nottingham: our city's large, German-speaking community. You could take part in Nottingham's German Stammtisch, a periodic, fun gathering during which only German is spoken. And there are German meetups to take part in, the German Döner Kebab restaurant to sample, jobs for German speakers...
Wait, jobs? Yes!
The website Indeed currently lists 36 jobs for German speakers in Nottingham and the surrounding area so, if you're a job seeker who needs to brush up on your German language skills, taking a German course is the way to go.
In Nottingham, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to taking German lessons.
The University of Nottingham has made evening language learning classes a staple; their 10-week beginner German course is just one of a long list of offerings and, if you're not an absolute beginner, you'll benefit from their higher-level courses.
To join their Level 3 learning session, for instance, you'll have to have already attained Level A2 on the Common European Frame of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) scale. For their Business German courses, naturally, you'll have a firm grasp of the basics of the German language.
You may also consider taking German lessons at the Language Hub. Here, too, the German lessons are only for learners aged 16 or more so, if you're a mature learner, these courses have a lot to offer: small class sizes, activities such as role-play and group work, and an emphasis on the spoken language.
A course such as these are perfect for adults; is there help for younger learners who want or need German lessons?
Who is the perfect German language student?
