I am currently a full-time student who studies A-Level maths, physics and product design. When mentoring students I like to be very subject and person specific and ensure they fully understand each piece of content before moving onto the next.
My method will depend on what the student wants to get out of a lesson. For example: if exam technique is primarily what the student wants to improve from tuition, I would pick out a few difficult problems from previous exams/textbooks to work through together.
I approach each topic of the syllabus clearly setting out the theory and then bring in questions of different types related to the topic, increasing in difficulty. At GCSE I also focus a lot on past paper questions relating to each topic which increases confidence and gets the students used to interpreting what the examiner actually wants.
I will prioritise overcoming the individual's weaknesses of the subject by providing various exercises and different ways to approach questions so the best way to reach a solution is found for each person as this will vary. From my own experience I encourage attempting past papers as it can be most beneficial and prepares the student best for an exam.
First we estabilish the students strengths and weaknesses. This could be done through discuss, school reports and/or a series of sort tests. The lesson structure I use involves describing and explaining the basic theory/concepts of a topic, progressing further if the student is able to grasp it. I will try other ways of explaining the information if they do not understand it the first time.
I enjoy seeing pupils learn and understand the concepts behind mathematics. I have always been excellent at questioning pupils to ensure they achieve their goals. I have many helpful tips to help you achieve those all important grades. Problem solving and depth of understanding is now the key to success.
In my studies at school I have gained a good understanding of the types of lessons that pupils find engaging and productive, which I aim to give. My typical lesson would comprise of a short introduction to the topic followed by exploring several worked examples until a complete understanding of the topic has been reached.
I like to teach by understanding rather than by rote. If a student thoroughly understands a concept they are much likelier to remember it, and be able to deal with complicated/unorthodox problems. However this isn't an excuse not to practice. I typically go through some example problems with the student, and then see how the student fares in their own time.
Extensive tutoring over 20+ years. Offering Science, Mathematics and English as a second language primarily along with affiliate subjects. I have a Bachelors degree in Political Science, History, French and International Relations. Postgraduate degree in Conflict Studies, Mediation, Dispute Resolution and Arbitration.
I aim to provide students with a sufficient understanding of core mathematical concepts to help them to think for themselves and apply these concepts to exam style questions. This is targeted at GCSE level or below. My methods of instruction will include starting the lesson off with a short and concise explanation into the topic that is to be covered as well as working through a practice question.
Hi there, My name is George and I am a 17 year old A-Level student at Hills Road Sixth Form College looking to tutor Physics and Astrophysics. Given my age, I often find that I can relate to a student rather easily and can provide a concise, clear and logical explanation of difficult concepts. If you have any questions do feel free to ask.
I provide exciting and thought provoking maths lessons. Whether these are for basic skills or to challenge your child at a mastery and greater depth level. I have a friendly and nurturing approach as I really get know your child.
I take a student-led approach, usually starting by working through some questions to get a sense of a student's strengths and weaknesses. We then come up with a programme of study, aiming to work through topics which the students finds most difficult.
My teaching methodology is that, I follow a set way to cover the whole curriculum but at the same time, put the individuals need first.
I take the 'fear factor' out of maths by helping students to understand the importance of Mathematical techniques and I use past exam papers to help students practice and understand methods and how to work answers out logically. Often maths games like Sudoku and times table practice are useful to build confidence and help students start to feel more comfortable with manipulating numbers.
Although every student is individual, I believe the best way to teach is by first explaining and then giving them something to work through themselves.
I will be teaching anything in Basic Physics Chemistry and Materials Science since I have studied and performed advanced research in all of these subjects. I can help with basics doubts at all levels from Primary Schooling to Doctorate Level.! Please do not hesitate to contact me for anything that you would require.
I am a great teacher and listener any questions please ask!! I can teach a range of subjects and help your child understand them and I promise by the end of our lessons it will be his/her favourite lessons even if before it was his/hers worst!
My experiences with young children has shown me how different children respond to different teaching styles. I like to mould my methods around the student. By spending time tackling questions, I can quickly grasp what teaching method I believe would be most suitable for the child.
I am a Master's student at Emmanuel College Cambridge, specialising in Astrophysics. I tutor A-level Physics, Maths and Further Maths both online and in-person and have achieved A*s in all my A-levels and was top of my year in Astrophysics at Cambridge. I offer flexible tutoring sessions, normally focused on example questions and discussion.
After completing Maths, Biology and Chemistry at A Level and Physics at GCSE I understand the frustrations and difficulties with the subjects but don't worry, I can help! By providing lessons from ages 5 to 16 through online tutoring sessions (Skype, FaceTime etc) I aim to build confidence and knowledge to those who struggle with the subject while they are in the comfort of their own home.
18 year old Hills Road college student, with great communication skills, and experience. Achieved 1A* 8A'S and 2B's at GCSE, with ABB predictions in Maths Chemistry and Politics at A level. I'm confident, easy to get along with, with experience in succeeding in exams. I intend to set measurable goals, and will focus on understanding and applying not just reciprocating information.
I like subjects that can be applied to problems student can relate to and i believe a problem solving approach is the best approach to learning math. Therefore, my teaching is centered about understanding and solving fun/memorable questions. I teach students in middle school or high school Mathematics is fun to Mental.
I am a qualified secondary mathematics/physics teacher. I have bsc, MSC and PhD in mathematics. I have been tutoring since 1999. I have mainly been working in the software industry and used maths to solve problems in the real world. I enjoy imparting my knowledge on others.
Hello! I am an undergraduate student at the University of Cambridge, reading Chemical Engineering. I am able to provide online Maths and Chemistry tutoring for GCSE and A-Level students. Face-to-Face lessons can be arranged if you live in Cornwall (or Cambridge from October onwards). I can also give lessons on Oxbridge preparation, especially for Natural Sciences applicants.
Teaching mathematics is one simple job. All you have to do is learn the content and then use it repeatedly. Sessions with me will start with learning about the topic you are struggling with, what facts you need to know, and lots of examples. I will produce a problem sheet that you can then work your way through steadily.
My sessions are always tailored to make them personal to the individual student. This may involve a concentration on central concepts, exam technique, or knowledge outside the scope of their course. Most important to me is that we take the sessions at the students own pace so that they always understand the principles.
For primary level I work to the syllabus and aim to go along side what they are being taught in school to help them to fully understand a topic if they are struggling or to stretch them beyond what they are currently studying.
I am a 5th year vet student at Cambridge. I am sporty, energetic and love all things outdoors. I am a keen footballer, and also love running, having recently completed my first half marathon. I am a country girl at heart, having grown up on a farm. I am easy to get on with and always up for a laugh! I tutor Maths and chemistry up to GCSE level, and Biology to A-level.
They way I would teach maths and physics is by the student choosing an area of which they struggle in, or a certain type of question they find hard, go to the basics of how the questions should be answered and give the sufficient knowledge to answer similar ones in the future. If time is on our side then more time could be spent learning the key areas needed to achieve a high grade in the exam.
