In the first instance I will have a meeting with the student and their parents (or guardians) if appropriate. I will seek to find out as much as I can about their learning styles and also their interests. I will then draw up a plan which will include a variety of learning activities which will take these into account as much as possible.
I work closely to the National Curriculum to ensure effective learning, but openly encourage reading and writing for pleasure, as I believe these are intrinsic to mastering the skills required for academic success.
Hi! My name is Shana Taylor and I am a 17 year old AS level student, looking to help to tutor children from primary school up to GCSE level in English Language, English Literature, or other creative writing based subjects. At GCSE, I received an A in English Language and an A* in English Literature with the WJEC exam board, however am happy to help with any exam board.
- Classes Every student has a programme that is built just for them. They concentrate on getting to grips with topics that they are covering in school whilst also working on a parallel thread that is put together to fill any gaps that may exist in their core skills. * The MagiKats programme supports the National Curriculum. * More than tutor 'hot-housing' and more than learning by rote.
I am a firm believer that reading is the key to grasping the requirements of basic literary skills. I would go through passages of different literary styles (novels, short stories, poetry etc.) and explain why writers choose to employ certain styles as well as looking specifically at the punctuation and grammar of the text.
