I like to tailor my classes based on the needs of my students. Although I have taught a wide range of ages and levels, I currently mainly teach adults who need to improve their English for work or study. For most of my students, we begin with a quick course in Pronunciation and Accent Reduction.
I strongly believe that every person learns in their own way so our lessons would adapt as we progress according to your abilities and skills/interests.
I base my teaching methods on the 4 main principles of learning a language, reading writing listening and speaking. I am patient and firm and determined to help achieve success for my students. I have a good sense of humour and a wide range of local English expressions.
I am a qualified, experienced and native English teacher. I can help you build confidence and ability in communicating in English. All lessons will be designed to suit your exact needs, wants, and interests. I can support you with: - IELTs - General English - Conversational Skills - English for travel - FCE / CAE - .......
I employ the philosophy: ‘learn & enjoy learning’ to my teaching practice & methodology. I recognise the importance of helping each trainee to develop their individual potential & learning style. I feel that hard work & a sense of achievement are factors that provide the most conducive atmosphere for rapid & effective learning.
I concentrate on functional English. Not all subjects in a language are equally learned at the same time. You might really need one part and have no interest in how to explain your extended family. I want to know what you want to learn now and what can wait. I like to find ways to use topics you enjoy to learn that vocabulary and grammar.
I use illustrations, pictures and real objects(realia) and relate work to learners' lives. I encourage peer work/check to build learner confidence and foster autonomy. In addition, I differentiate tasks to be sufficiently challenging to every learner. I also give detailed and prompt feedback, verbal and written, to both learners and parents.

I'm a multilingual graduate with language teaching experience and a background as a proofreader (novel). I specialise in one to one tuitions and my area of expertise is English as a foreign language to Chinese speakers. My preferred levels are Beginner & Elementary.
The first lesson will be more of talking and going through exercises to check your English level. I start a lesson with an engage, so students are comfortable and ready for the lesson. After this stage, there is the study period, where the students learn the topic. Finally the last stage the student gets to practice what they just learned through a more freer way, e.g. roleplay.
I usually plan my teaching methods around my students, it is very important to me that my students enjoy the lessons and want to participate. Therefore, I usually ask students what they want to improve most on, subjects they find interesting etc. Then from this I try to plan helpful lessons with a good mix of interaction and theory.
I believe in making lessons fun and interesting. I try to introduce humour and personality whenever I can. Structure and organisation is important, but the skill of the teacher is being able to adapt to the individual needs of the pupils.
Teaching for me is a lifelong learning process which will remain with me for the rest of my life. Through teaching a teacher also grows as I have. Teaching has taught me how to use different strategies to suit the individual student, how all students have different needs, goals, and aspirations.
I will devise interesting a progressive lesson plans, prior to every class, with activities for you to take away in preparation for the next class. My initial taster class is free, intended to get to know each other and what your objectives are. I will then write a lesson plan based on this.
I believe that speaking from the outset is really important. Therefore, a typical lesson will start with a conversation about what you did that week or what you will do or your thoughts on a topic, and then we will go into the material for that lesson. Maybe we will concentrate on grammar, reading an article, vocabulary games, writing or even just chat, depending on what your level and needs are.
I'm a graduate of university who majored in TESOL and Korean. I also hold a trinity certTESOL qualification. I can teach young adults/adults of any nationality, age etc. I'm flexible, easy going and very patient.
For me, teaching is not just about a student’s ability to learn effectively, but it should also be about critical thinking, self-awareness and overall motivation for the specific subject area.
I like to encourage students to be engaged in the classes and I facilitate their learning. This is so they can love learning and also carry on learning outside the classroom straight after class. Then we talk about what they learned and have great conversation whilst getting better at English. I like to base my classes and trust and respect.
I base my classes on the likes/dislikes of the students and teach the things students will need to know the most. Worksheets are used in my classes along with different games and projects that serve a purpose to the students.
I believe in eclecticism and always adapt to my learners' needs. Learning should be engaging for both learners and tutor; we learn from each other. I am interested in applying a range of methodologies according to the learning experiences and culture of my learners.
After gaining a good understanding of my student and their ability and preferences, I base my lessons around the things that they are interested in and make their learning applicable to them and their lives. I like to use role play, quizzes and games.
It depends on the needs of the student. It's important to speak. Even when a student is reading they must speak which helps with pronunciation followed by a discussion of the topic. Any unknown words are written for vocabulary building and studied. This is just a small example of my method.
Have previously taught students of all ages and abilities in Spain, Italy and China and online. I have a degree in Translation and Interpeting and Trinity CertTESOL qualification.
In my teaching I would ensure that you practice your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English. I create my own powerpoints and worksheets for you to work through. My teaching methods are varied, which includes roles play activities and discussions.
