My approach is a student centred coaching rather than teaching. A key to successful learning is to feel safe and secure so that you feel fine about making mistakes and learning from them. I make sure a client can feel safe and develop their confidence in learning in general. The first lesson is a trial and consultation offered at £20.
I teach beginner to advance level speaking, writing and reading in Japanese. For writing, this includes logographic kanji and syllabic kana (Hiragana, Katakana). The fun part is we can do lots of Japanese cultural activities like origami-making, anime appreciation, etc.
In lessons I will focus mainly on grammar and accent reduction. I will explain the writing system and provide you with vocabulary lists. If you are preparing for an exam that encompasses an oral component, we will practice mock orals.
Since I taught myself the language I have built up a collection of different books as well as a series of books which really made the process of the learning Japanese a whole lot easier. During the teaching time in Vietnam, I has prepared my own materials and lessons for basic Japanese learners. I evaluate the speed that my students absorb new things and how committed they are to these subjects early in the lesson. It is important to discuss students’ goals with students and their parents so that I push them enough but not excessively. Flexibility is my strength!
