About the lesson
I am an A-Level student just about to finish my second year at sixth form. One of the A-Levels that I have been studying is English Literature. I would like to lend my resources to those at secondary school or at sixth form level who need that extra bit of help either learning, annotating and understanding themes and techniques when studying literature.
This includes going through a range of poems and extracts finding techniques, learning terminology and seeing how meanings are shaped.
We would go through quotes, themes and characters and break down how to gain the most marks from answers.
By listening to you and prompting you to be an active learner I hope we can achieve your full potential.

By doing paired reading with younger students, I have become aware on how to respond to the needs of a learner. Important factors to take into consideration are communication and having a positive attitude.
This showed me that I can make a difference in a student's reading skills. This experience was helpful in giving me insight on how to ask questions and listen to a child, whilst helping them understand and improve upon the way they interpret and understand a book. It developed my confidence in how to prompt learning in a younger student and how to adapt from the role of a student to the role of a teacher.
To check the student’s progress, she was given assessments and we found that since helping her with her reading, her skills had improved in many ways.
An example of improvement would be the understanding the words of what she was reading and the fluency of reading. When this student did an a test to review how she had developed as a young reader, she was seen to show improvement on a good level.
