About Athene
I want to tutor because I love sharing my enthusiasm for English and watching students experience that “lightbulb” moment when everything clicks. For younger pupils (age 7-11), my goal is to spark lifelong passion for reading and writing by building their confidence from the ground up. Passing on what I’ve learned allows me to inspire the next generation of readers, helping them realise that language is a creative tool they can truly master and enjoy. English is a subject I have always enjoyed, but particularly in years 9/10, having extra one-to-one guidance outside from my lessons, helping me understand exam strategy & structure and how to write effectively, would have been incredibly useful. Therefore, I hope I can perform that role in other students’ lives, passing on my wisdom.

For primary school pupils, my sessions are designed to spark a genuine love for words while building unbreakable literacy foundations. I focus on nurturing confidence by encouraging children to explore their creative minds through imaginative storytelling and fun poetry etc. Alongside this creative freedom, I incorporate structured drills in phonics, reading fluency and spelling. By combining playful expression with the repetitive practice young minds need to master the basics, I ensure every child develops strong core skills in a supportive, patient environment
For secondary students (years 7-11), my tutoring bridges the gap between standard schoolwork and top-tier academic success. Drawing on my double grade 9s at GCSE and my current studies as a first year A-level English student at The Perse, I teach students the exact exam strategies, essay frameworks and descriptive writing techniques needed to excel. I help pupils elevate their vocabulary, structure high-scoring essays and master the analytical mindset required to achieve a grade 9. You will learn actionable shortcuts and insider revision methods directly from someone who has just aced the exact same curriculum. For reference, my core texts at GCSE were: ‘Macbeth’, ‘An Inspector Calls’ and ‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ (+ poetry anthology on power & conflict)
