About Anthea
I have always found a way to make Sociology exciting! - Learning Sociology enables you to develop tools to help you make sense of the world you live in: for example how societies work in harmony - the glue that keeps people bonded together. My approach goes beyond teaching the content, however - I focus on the mechanics of the examination. I understand the AQA marking and assessment standards, the ways marks can be accidentally lost but more importantly how they can be gained.

My approach is student-led to assess the way they learn and identify what their needs are to progress in this subject. Students have a variety of learning styles and will be at different points of understanding of the syllabus. I teach using examination-style assessment to prepare students for the public examinations. I have a degree in Sociology and 17 years' experience teaching Sociology to A level standard. I don't just teach facts (AO1), we will practise application (AO2) and evaluation (AO3) - areas where the highest marks are won. I will show techniques to master short answer questions in an accurate and punchy way, how to use the item effectively on 10 mark answers, and how to write structured essays developing reasoned arguments with critical analysis and evaluation. These lessons would suit A level students working towards A level Sociology examinations.
