I'm currently studying A levels in Maths, Further maths, Chemistry and Physics at Cardiff sixth form college. If you are someone who is currently studying in primary or secondary school and finds any of the science subjects more tricky, I am here to help! My teaching style is one of encouragement. I wish to spark an enthusiasm and enjoyment for science, as this is by far the best way to learn! I can share with you my experience to get perfect exam technique!
I have volunteered at ACE which involved me tutoring primary and secondary students Maths and English. I am well experienced with sitting exams and can provide invaluble insight into what examinors are looking for, as it was only last year I sat my GCSE's myself! I have worked as a science communicator at Techniquest which meant I developed great communication skills - especially in explaining basic scientific concepts to children.
Education
GCSE’s – 6A*’s 5A’s / School: Lewis Girls Comprehensive school
Current institution: Cardiff Sixth Form College / studying: Maths, Further maths, physics and chemistry
Experience
I have been part of ACE volunteering which entailed tutoring 14-15 year olds for their maths GCSE and also teaching primary school children maths and English.
In October I spent a week working as a science communicator in Techniquest which involved a great deal of working with young children and explaining basic scientific concepts to them.
As part of my Duke of Edinburgh award I have done volunteering at my local netball club and Girls Brigade. For these I would organise the games for the younger girls, which required me to have strong leadership skills and encouraging enthusiasm.
Personal Statement
I’m a hardworking sixth form student who is reliable and self-motivated. The first time I sat my maths GCSE I got a B, but through hard work and perseverance I resat and got an A*, and now I’m studying double maths. I would have a lot to offer for this role because I can really relate to the struggle many young people face in getting the results they want. But I also know that it is more than possible! And I know how to get there. I would love to help and share my experience in any way I can.
